MODERN HANDYMAN INCORPORATED
Effective Date: 5 August 2026 • Last Updated: 5 Aug 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Modern Handyman Incorporated (“MHI,” “Modern Local Handyman,” “Modern Handyman,” “Modern,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our website (modernlocalhandyman.com), our mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
Modern Handyman Incorporated is a Delaware corporation that provides scheduling and business-management software for independent handymen and home service professionals (“Providers”). Providers use the Services to manage their own existing customers (“Homeowners”) — including keeping customer and property records, organizing task lists, and scheduling visits. A Homeowner may interact with the Services when a Provider shares a personal booking link that lets the Homeowner view availability and self-book a visit. Today, Providers bring their own existing customers to the Services, and the Services do not include a marketplace or discovery feature connecting Homeowners with new Providers. We intend to introduce such a feature in the future, as described in Section 2 and Section 4 below. MHI provides software tools only. We are not a party to, and do not own, manage, or control, the underlying home repair or maintenance services performed by Providers. The service relationship is between the Provider and the Homeowner; MHI’s role is limited to providing the software that helps a Provider run that relationship.
2.1 Information Providers Provide to Us: account information such as name, business name, email address, phone number, and password; business information such as service categories offered, service area, and availability or schedule; and records Providers create about their own customers, including Homeowner name and contact information, service address, property details, task or job notes, and photos. Tax, business, and banking or payout information may also be collected once invoicing and payment features are enabled. If a Provider opts into a future discovery feature, business name, service categories, service area, availability, and public ratings or reviews may be visible to Homeowners browsing the Services. 2.2 Information Homeowners Provide to Us: when a Homeowner uses a Provider’s self-book link, we collect the information needed to schedule the visit — typically name, contact information, and requested service details. Once discovery is enabled, we will also collect information needed to submit a service request to a new Provider. 2.3 Payment Information: task lists and visit scheduling are the current functionality. We intend to introduce invoicing and payment collection in the future through a third-party processor. Once enabled, billing, payment method, and banking or payout information will be handled by that processor, while MHI retains only limited transaction information. 2.4 Information Collected Automatically: device and usage data, permitted location data, and push notification tokens. 2.5 Information from Third Parties: analytics and crash-reporting providers, email delivery providers, Apple sign-in data, our future payment processor, and background check providers if that feature is used.
We use the information we collect to let Providers create and manage records for their customers, properties, and tasks; let Homeowners view availability and self-book a visit; support future discovery, invoicing, and payments; send booking confirmations, task or visit reminders, and other service-related notifications; provide customer support; improve, secure, and troubleshoot the Services; send marketing communications with the ability to opt out; comply with legal obligations; and detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or safety issues.
We share information only as described below. We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their own advertising purposes. Information a Provider enters about their customers supports that Provider’s scheduling and communication with those customers. Through future discovery, public Provider profile information may be shown to Homeowners, and a Homeowner’s request may be shared with the Provider contacted. Billing, payment method, and payout information will be shared with our third-party payment processor once enabled. We may also share information with vendors that help operate the Services, for legal and safety reasons, in connection with business transfers, or with your consent.
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or anonymize it.
We do not currently conduct background checks on Providers. We may do so in the future, using third-party consumer reporting agencies, for purposes such as verifying identity, licensing, or safety-related history. Where background checks are used, they are subject to separate, legally required disclosure and authorization (for example, under the Fair Credit Reporting Act in the U.S.). That disclosure and authorization is presented directly to the Provider at the time a check is requested, separately from this Privacy Policy, and governs how any resulting report is used.
7. Your Choices and Rights
Access and correction: Providers can review and update customer records and account information directly in the app. Homeowners can contact the relevant Provider, or us, to request corrections to information collected through a self-book link. Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at hello@modernlocalhandyman.com. Some information may be retained where required by law. Marketing communications: You can opt out of marketing emails via the unsubscribe link, or push notifications via your device settings. Location permissions: You can enable or disable location sharing through your device settings, though this may limit certain features. California residents: Depending on your state of residence, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@modernlocalhandyman.com. Residents of other states with comprehensive privacy laws (e.g., Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut) may have similar rights; contact us to make a request.
8. Children’s Privacy
The Services are not directed to individuals under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn we have collected information from a child, we will delete it.
9. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Third-Party Links and Services
The Services may link to or integrate third-party services (e.g., payment processing, email delivery, analytics providers). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and we encourage you to review their policies.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for reasons unrelated to the functionality described above — for example, to reflect changes in law or our general business practices. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Services or by other reasonable means. The “Last Updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
